Depression chat rooms:
Because Talking Helps
If you are seeing a therapist regularly for depression but
need to talk out of office hours, depression chat room can help.
Why use a depression chat room?
Depression chat is a good way to discuss your feelings and thoughts with like minded people.
In the middle of the night, when depression can take hold with insomnia and worry, talking it out is still the best treatment along with depression medication that you can get.
When your doctor is out of the office, on weekends for example, or you only see them once or twice a week, chatting online with others who suffer from the same illness can be a godsend.
Logging on in a like minded forum in the middle of the night can hook you up with people that suffer from the same feelings you have.
There are depression specific chat rooms, such as Bipolar depression or grief chat rooms, where others have suffered a loss or are experiencing the highs and lows that come with bipolar disorder, or you can log on and speak to general depression issues, such as constant worry.
You may even find a solution.
And now a word of caution; while most depression chat consists of people who feel the same way you do, or did and have moved through it, there are internet and cyberspace predators everywhere, and you need to check out the forum you are joining to se if they are legitimate.
There is nothing worse than logging on and asking for help only to find that these people aren't serious or want only to take advantage of you. That kind of betrayal can only lead to more intense depression.
Be honest but don't give out more information than you are willing to. Never tell other chatters your exact location, your city or state is enough, why do they care where you are located? That is not the point of depression chat.
With a little savvy of internet etiquette, you can make new friends and find solutions, but keep much of your private information private.
